Usman Khawaja: The Most Underrated Talented Batsman

Khawaja got his start in cricket when he was young and rose through the levels of the sport very swiftly. He qualified for the Under-19 World Cup by playing cricket with the Valley District Cricket Club in Brisbane, where he regularly practices. About Usman Khawaja –

Usman Khawaja might have been allowed to play for the national team in 2011 when Ricky Ponting had an injury and was unable to do so because of it. This occurred even though he made his ODI debut against Sri Lanka. He made a remarkable recovery from his injury and competed in his maiden Twenty20 International during the 2015–2016 season.   • Domestic Career –

Because of Khawaja’s outstanding performance for the Australian Under-19 squad in 2006, he was invited to take part in the Cricket World Cup for players aged 19 and under. 2008 was the year that marked the beginning of his career with the New South Wales Blues. Since he joined the Sydney Thunder, a team that plays in the Big Bash League, in 2011, he has developed into an integral component of the squad.

The following year, he committed to playing for an English cricket team known as Derbyshire by signing a contract. In 2014, he became a formal member of the Lancashire team across all formats of the game. In addition to that, he is a member of the cricket team for the Valley District Club in Brisbane. On January 11, 2013, Khawaja participated in his maiden One-Day International for Australia, which was a match against Sri Lanka. The match was played by the Australian cricket team. Following a string of poor performances in the club’s first few contests, he was demoted to the bench position for the team. Khawaja had a very successful limited-overs tour of India in 2019, and he continued his strong play in the series that followed against Pakistan to maintain his standing as a top player. As a result of this, he was selected to participate in the 2019 Cricket World Cup, although he was forced to withdraw from the tournament after suffering an injury to his hamstring while playing in a group-stage match.

When Khawaja took the field for the first time in a Test match, it was during the sixth game of that year’s Ashes series. As a result of this, he became the first Muslim player in the history of cricket to ever represent Australia in a test match. This achievement catapulted him into the annals of history. In addition to this, he holds the distinction of being the very first athlete to ever represent Australia who was born in Pakistan. It was in 2013 when he and a few other members of the squad were kicked off for violating the policies that the organization had in place. In the same year that he participated in his first test match, he also participated in the Ashes series for test cricket. This happened in the same year. In 2015, he played in his debut Test match against New Zealand and earned his first hundred runs in a game of that format.

In the same year, he set a new standard by becoming the first batsman to score a century in a single innings during a Day-Night Test match played on home soil. This accomplishment earned him the title of “first batsman to achieve a century in a single innings during a Day-Night Test match.” Because of this accomplishment, he was able to set a new record. What happened happening set a completely new standard, which is a direct result of the events that took place. This year, he has been chosen to represent his country in the Ashes series, which will take place in England. This will be his first time competing in the tournament. Because he did not reach fifty in each of the first three Ashes matches, he was taken out of the lineup for the fourth and final match of the series.   • T20I career –

Khawaja made his first-ever appearance for Australia in a Twenty20 International match on January 31, 2016, which was played against India. The two nations competed against each other in the encounter. He earned a spot in the Twenty20 World Cup that was played in 2016, which was held in Australia. He only ever appeared in one Twenty20 International (T20I) match, which was against Bangladesh, and he ended up scoring 50 runs in that match. Since he last appeared in a Twenty20 International in September of 2016, he hasn’t been very good in Twenty20, which is the shortest version of the game. He hasn’t been particularly good at any level of the game.

  • IPL Career –

Usman Khawaja played for the Rising Pune Supergiant team in the Indian Premier League during the 2016 and 2017 seasons. These seasons took place in 2016 and 2017. The Rising Pune Supergiant will not be taking part in the remainder of the Indian Premier League season.

  • Family –

His parents, Tariq and Fozia, uprooted their families and moved to Australia when he was five years old. This marked the beginning of his life in the land down under.
